Why is VOLT heavily promoting "sealed gear system"
Let's talk about gears. A cassette (gears) is needed to help the ebike motor to extend the power range. However, a sealed gear system is just a much better choice for ebike systems!
- Nexus/Internal gears use the stronger chain which is more durable & resist the stretch better
- There is no "strange" side-way chain movement grinding up and down the cassette
- Power delivery is more smooth & efficient as the chain line remains straight
- Internal gears can shift standing still without pedalling (at the traffic lights)
- Internal gears are hidden from the dirt, sand or oil ... and therefore require much less maintenance
- A cassette system on an e.bike will need to be replaced every 3 months on average; NEXUS should last years if safely used.
Important Note: Nexus has a clutch inside. Ease off the pedalling and stop the motor power to safely shift between gears.
Which "MAX" is for me ?
- Nexus (sealed gears) vs Cassette (exposed gears) ? Nexus for us. Cassette for the old school.
- Max Pro or Max ? Pro has higher end components through out and is more durable and offers better performance overall. Pro has the additional 500watts power & faster acceleration.
- 120mm or 160mm or 180mm suspension ? It depends on if you like do jumping or prefer to stay on the road surface mostly.
- 740Wh or 910Wh battery ? 740wh (Samsung) is compact and approx. 900grams lighter. 910Wh (Samsung) lasts longer with a slower ageing effect* (Battery ageing is normal and eventually they get replaced)

Each "XT" is hand-built by VOLT to our new 2019 manufacturing standard. Made in Australia.

Who are BAFANG Mid Drive ? Best & Only Powerful Mid Drive Motors
Most influential Brands of E.bike motors are Bosch (Germany), Brose (Germany), Shimano (Japan), Yamaha (Japan) and then the Bafang from China.
We have chosen Bafang for a few reasons. We have made and sold over 1000+ electric bike batteries. We are always in the process of improving the battery production & performance from customers' feedback. Bicycle Size & Gear Question
Most motorcycles or scooters come in one size only. Ebikes with a powerful motor eliminate the need for too many different bicycle frame sizes. We use L size frames but we can install shorter or longer stems to accommodate shorter and taller riders. Leave us a note.
E-Power mades gears redundant. Electric bikes only need 3 - 5 gears just like a motorcycle or a car.
What makes us " Made in Australia"
Yes. Most parts are imported from Asia/ Europe. but many were to our own requirements and design. We believe in our idea of having the in-house production. It gives us the quality control and the learning ground to improve on engineering & performance. We've built the first 1000 e.bikes in Sydney. And, we will continue to built more.
